Fall – a wonderful time of the year…

 In Seasonal Pest Information, Uncategorized

Fall brings thoughts of warm days, cool nights, apple cider and even pumpkins.  Even the falling leaves evoke melancholy memories of the summer past.  So what’s the worry?  Well, in the fall mother nature sees to it that her creatures great and small are prepared to survive the long, cold winter months that inevitably follow those glorious fall days.  And that’s the problem – those same creatures, particularly insects, rodents, spiders, bees, etc. often choose our dwellings to provide the shelter they need to survive.  So for your peace of mind, safety, and protection of your home and property, you need to take precautions to minimize their invasive activities.  That’s where we come in.  We can inspect for pest presence or activity, identify the culprits, and take the proper action to eliminate the invaders.  Call us now for a fall service that will make your winter pest free!

In the meantime, here are some fall pest-proofing tips to help keep the critters from making your home theirs:

Seal cracks on the exterior of the home including the foundation, doors, and windows

Repair any damaged screens if you plan to keep windows open through the fall

Keep garage doors closed when not in use

Close off vents and other openings with protective screens

Store all open food in airtight containers

Take the trash out regularly and be sure it is in a sealed receptacle

Keep shrubs and bushes on the outside of the home trimmed back

Store firewood at least 20 feet away from the home and up off of the ground
